Zaka Ashraf Re-appointed as the chief of board
ISLAMABAD: The ‘musical chairs’ continues as the Islamabad High Court (IHC) Saturday reinstated Zaka Ashraf as Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) yet again.
This is the third time Ashraf has been re-appointed as the chief of board since his removal from the office.
Ashraf was appointed as the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, as of October 15, 2011 by the then president of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari. He assumed office on October 27, 2011. However, on February 10, 2014 Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif dissolved the PCB governing board and sacked him for the chairmanship of PCB.The main reason for that was a slew of alleged financial irregularities and mismanagement of the board, though the annual budget saw a reduction of its deficit during his time.
According to sources, the court has also declared as illegal a PCB caretaker committee including Najam Sethi.
Talking exclusively to Samaa TV, Zaka Ashraf said that his restoration was the victory of democracy.
