Survival of federation is under threat
ISLAMABAD: Senator Raza Rabbani has said that Pakistan is passing through a critical state as federation is under threat instead of constitution.
This he said while taking part in a debate on the prevailing political situation in the country.
“Now the survival of federation is under threat. Changing the system will lead to a disaster,” he warned.
All political parties, he stressed, need to rise about their political interests. Rabbani said that security forces along cannot deal with militancy.
The senior political pointed out that now elected institutions, judiciary and media were being targeted after the Election Commission. “These are dangerous signals. Attempts to make a fake grand alliance cannot succeed.”
He, however, admitted that ECP’s performance was disappointing.
Senator Saeed Ghani said that Pakistan was being handed over to so-called clerics. “These clerics were misleading people in the name of Islam,” Ghani lamented.
Democracy can be at risk if media weakens, Senator Farhatullah Babar said.
He urged the upper house to play its role in defusing internal media war. He suggested that a committee be formed to resolve the issue.
