Raja Pervez Ashraf involvement in multi-billion-rupee scam
ISLAMABAD: An Accountability Court on Friday adjourned indictment of former prime minister Raja Pervez Ashraf in a case pertaining to his involvement in multi-billion-rupee scam of Rental Power Projects (RPPs).
All accused in the case, including Ashraf and former finance minister Shaukat Tareen, were to be charge-sheeted today, however, the court adjourned the case proceeding till June 3 over nonappearance on the accused.
The AC judge Muhammad Bashir has re-summoned all the accused on the next hearing.
Ashraf, who is also central leader of the Pakistan People Party (PPP), had been under investigation for his role in granting rental power projects as a water and power minister in the cabinet of ex-PM Yousuf Raza Gilani.
In March 2012, the Supreme Court of Pakistan declared all such projects unlawful and ordered investigations against the officials, including Ashraf.
