PIA Employees Beating Passengers, PIA Flight Delayed Watch Clip
A record number of over 1,300 Pakistan International Airlines flights were delayed during the last month, sources said.
The PIA recorded just 44.3pc punctuality in 2,453 flights it operated during August. Of the 2,453 flights operated on international and domestic routes, 1,367 were delayed. Officials termed the situation “very alarming” for the survival of the airline.
“If the management cannot ensure flight punctuality how can it steer it out of the current crisis?” a source questioned. He said the national flag carrier’s departments, information passenger handling services, commercial, food services, operations and flight services were also responsible for the delays. Immigration, custom, air traffic control, Civil Aviation Authority and weather also contributed to the delays.
“The PIA will have to manage its departments properly in order to control irregularity and non-punctuality,” the source said.
Regarding the northern areas operations of the PIA, out of the 73 flights operated in last month for Skardu, Gilgit and Chitral, 29 got cancelled. Weather was the main reason for cancellation of the flights.
