Students excel in drawing competition
SCHOOLCHILDREN watch Gogi cartoons on screen at the NBF.
National Book Foundation (NBF) on Thursday held a drawing competition for the students of different schools in which 40 students of five to 14 years of age participated.Paper, paints and other facilities were provided to the students by the foundation.
Renowned artist Nigar Nazar not only played as a judge of the competition but also a teacher providing inputs to the young artists.
During the three hours competition the students were entertained with refreshment, reading of short stories and cartoons.
Amina Amir Sheikh, Motasl Saifullah and Izza Rizvi bagged first, second and third positions.
The managing director of NBF, Dr. Inamul Haq Javeid, said because of summer camp NBF was becoming equally famous among children and adults.
“A large number of parents come to the camp along with the children where teachers guide them,” he said.
“Books are read during different sessions to increase book reading trend among students. Although it is an era of information technology, I still believe that there is no alternative to book reading,” he said.
The activities of this event will help children become great and prominent personalities in future, he said.
