Nawaz Sharif said Good and constructive meeting with Narendra Modi
NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said on Tuesday that he had a good and constructive meeting with his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi.
In a press conference here, Prime Minister Sharif said that he was pleased to be in New Delhi at the invitation of Modi.
“It should be a historic opportunity for our two countries. This provides us the opportunity to leading the aspiration of people of our two countries.
“The one and a half billion people of two countries want to focus on their well-being and welfare,” he said.
“I urge that we had to strive to change confrontation to cooperation leaving behind allegations and counter-allegations. We want to overcome the legacy of mischief and mistrust,”
The prime minister said he and Indian PM discussed all issues in the spirit of sincerity.
India and Pakistan foreign secretaries to “meet soon” to carry forward bilateral agenda, he stated.
“I recalled my invitation to Prime Minister Vajpayee to Lahore in February 1999 and told him I intended to pick up the threads of Lahore Declaration, from where it had to be left off in October 1999,” he added.
