Nawaz Sharif – Narendra Modi one-to-one meeting today in New Delhi
NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his newly elected Indian counterpart Narendra Modi will hold a one-to-one meeting here in New Delhi today in a bid to improve ties.
The PM will also hold bilateral talks with Indian President Pranab Mukherjee before leaving for Pakistan later in the afternoon.
On Monday, the PM joined other regional leaders to attend the swearing-in of BJP’s 63-year-old leader Narendra Modi who has been elected 15th Prime Minister of India after his party’s landslide victory.
Afghan President Hamid Karzai was also among the regional leaders who attended the ceremony outside the Indian president’s official residence in New Delhi.
The ceremony that also saw the swearing-in of Modi’s 44-member cabinet was attended by around 4,000 guests.
It was for the first time that a leader from Pakistan attended the swearing-in of an Indian leader since 1947.
