KANDH KOT: At least seven people lost their lives and dozens more sustained traumatic injuries in a terrible roadside accident here on Wednesday afternoon.
Reports have it the tragic roadside disaster struck after a passenger bus rammed into a trailer-truck head-on near Kandhkot, a city in Kashmor District, Sindh.
Confirming seven deaths, the rescue sources feared a sharp rise in fatalities.
“At least 30 non-fatal casualties including women and children have been ambulanced to the hospitals,” they said adding,” the rescuers are still busy pulling the victims out from the wreckage of bus.”
So terrible was the collision that it left the bus almost totaled and rescuers had to cut through the mangled wreckage to pull the victims out.
Police suspect the driver’s negligence was likely the cause of the accident.
“We believe the bus driver dozed off before the crash. He was maybe too tired to have any road sense”, a police official told Samaa.
On the other hand, sources quoted eyewitnesses as saying the bus was speeding far over the legal limit by the time this unfortunate mishap came to pass.
